CAREER AS MISSION

“I had lived and worked in China for four years before joining GLS, thriving in the culture and the workplace, but finding it difficult to be more than a Christian that happened to work in China than what I had come to China to be: a Christian called to serve in China’s marketplace as a tentmaker. GLS has helped me to live out my true calling.” Melissa, Business Professional Read more

The world is getting smaller. Whether at home or abroad, we live and work in an increasingly international environment. Today’s job market demands cross-cultural skills and experience in China can give you the edge. When you live and work overseas, promoting cultural exchange, and contributing to international development, you can make a difference in the lives of those who have yet to know God’s love.
Do you have a heart for China and want to see lives transformed? Through your career, you can reach people where they are, in China’s bustling marketplace!
This is God’s call: Go where you are needed. Live fully in Christ. Serve to make a difference.
A Network for Your Journey
While going is strategic, going with the support of like-minded people is important, especially when you consider the challenges of adjusting to a new job, a new home, and a new environment at the same time. With a supportive network in place before your journey, you won’t have to face uncertainties alone. You will have the opportunity to learn from those who have gone before you and those who go after you can benefit from what you have learned.
Our network functions like a Christian fellowship and a professional association, providing all the services of a traditional sending organization – placement, orientation, field support and ongoing training with emphasis on peer support and learning.
Our associates work in various fields—business, education, health care, IT, technology, etc. They share common core values such as integrity, professional excellence and servant leadership, with the same missional commitment—to lead a fruitful life. They work, witness, and serve with the same mission and professionalism at home or abroad. Read more
Personal Attention, Professional Support
For over 20 years, we have been mobilizing and sending missional professionals from diverse backgrounds to serve in China. We do not take a cookie cutter approach but walk with you through careful planning for a missional career overseas. Employing a combination of support strategies, we provide care for our associates’ spiritual, personal and professional needs.
We understand and have extensive experience in working through the barriers that can hinder your desire to serve overseas. We provide assistance with job placement, cultural orientation, field and home support, career guidance, professional networking and more. We invite you to join us and contribute to this growing movement of missional professionals!
This is Your Opportunity
If you:
- identify with our vision for integrating professional and ministry skills in serving and reaching the unreached,
- believe in having community for support and accountability while serving overseas, and
