Muslim World 1-2-3 Summer Project
Get beyond stereotypes to engage Islam on its own terms. This 6-week project is designed to offer students an introduction to Islam and a chance to encounter and engage Muslims in several different contexts. Build real friendships with Muslims that will break down fear and open the door for relationship and witness.
Some features:
Vision: To see students actively applying the truths of the Christian faith to the Muslim world context and committing to using their life to serve God’s people and his purposes in the world.
Dates: June 17-July 31, 2010
Cost: estimated at $3,600, including flights, room, board, transport (Excluding transportation to orientation)

Overview of program: 1-2-3 = 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks. Well, ok, we fudged a bit on the dates because it sounds good. Really it’s 6 days in the US, 10 days in France, and 3 weeks in Kyrgyzstan, but you get the point.
.
Location #1 – USA. 1-week (6 days). Engage immigrant communities of Afghan, Iranian, and Pakistani Muslims living in the US. Visit a mosque and consider the presence of Muslims in our own communities. Visit an Iranian-led outreach to Iran via satellite. Consider long-term work among immigrants and international students. We’re not only going to learn a lot, but also get to experience it.
Location #2 – Paris, France. 2-weeks (well, 10 days). Encounter religiously observant Muslims from North Africa dealing with life in an intensely secular context. We will be engaging in culture exchange with (primarily) college-aged students, learning about Arab culture, and praying through how to witness in a secular culture.
We will be ministering in a Paris, France, a city with many Muslim background college students and partnering with an existing college Christian fellowship.
French language ability would be a plus, but it is not required.
.
Location #3 – Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia). 3-weeks. Meet nominal
Muslims in a poor former Communist country. Teach conversational English to high-school and college-aged students. Share your life and God’s love with students from many different Central Asian cultures.
This summer expect to:
