YOUR WORK IS A KEY TO REACHING THE WORLD

Have you ever considered how your work—whether in a classroom or a boardroom, behind a screen or across borders—could be the key to fulfilling the Great Commission?

Your current work may already take you overseas for short-term projects. It could also open doors for international careers in today’s global marketplace. When you work abroad, you could be going where traditional missionaries cannot go.

The great majority of countries in the 10/40 Window where two-thirds of the world live are closed to missionaries. But they welcome business people, educators, engineers, and healthcare workers with the right skills. It may not be appropriate to speak freely about religion in the workplace, but how you do your work and relate to people can speak volumes and lead to faith conversations.

Short-term projects like launching a product, running a seminar, or consulting could offer opportunities to connect with local believers and explore how your expertise might support local ministries beyond the workplace.

Long-term assignments provide a respectable work identity, natural access to colleagues, neighbors, and local friends to build relationships, gain trust, and live out the gospel in everyday interactions. Whether you are a software developer in a tech hub, an entrepreneur starting a business, or a project manager building infrastructure, you can bring Christian witness to the workplace, mentor younger colleagues, and contribute to the local faith community that will continue to impact society long after you are gone.

Today, geographic boundaries are no longer barriers for mission work. Digital missionaries can reach restricted regions through secure communication tools, websites, social media, and even AI platforms—some of which have helped spark decisions for Christ.

From home or office, you can teach online, create content, or train local believers. Your impact multiplies when you collaborate with on-the-ground Christians for follow-up and deeper engagement.

What is exciting about long-term, short-term and digital missions is that they complement each other beautifully. Long-termers build deep relationships and sustained discipleship. Short-termers bring fresh energy, connections, and credibility. Digital missionaries can make significant contributions without travels across time zones.

You do not need to leave your career to make an eternal impact for the gospel. Pursue your career and use your skills intentionally to work and witness in places God has prepared you for.

Wherever you go, God is already at work. Step into it.
