HOW TO PRAY FOR MISSIONARIES
(adapted from Prayer Tools by Will Bruce)
Be specific, systematic, and steadfast.
Agree in prayer with others (Mt. 18:19-20).
Saturate your prayer to cover the many aspects of missionary life.
Pray as if you are praying for yourself. Missionaries have issues like you do. But the cross-cultural setting makes everything more challenging.
Pray with the authority you have in Christ to bind and deliver (Mt. 18:18, Mk. 3:27).
Pray with Scripture. (Read Myers’ 31 Days trilogy)

What can we pray for? Ask for…
Awareness of spiritual warfare, that missionaries will be mindful of it and put on the full armor of God.
Grace and patience with language learning, cultural adjustment, challenges of food, climate, health, lack of privacy, etc. and the slow return from their labor.
Self-knowledge and insight into their pride and prejudices, drivenness to perform, need for discipline, insecurities, loneliness, discouragement; and for the willingness to seek help.
Being grounded in Christ’s love, God’s Word, and prayer; protection from sin and temptation; accountability and support from fellow workers, folks back home, and their sending organizations.
Love for people, healthy relationships with locals, and unity among fellow workers.
Marriage and family life; parenting and discipling of children who grow up between cultures.
Physical, mental, and financial health; self-care; rest and renewal, fun and leisure.
